About the Role

The Residential Program Manager is essential to the success and integrity of MCITY Thrive. In this leadership role, you will oversee the daily operations of our residential group home, ensuring that our "Care Pillars" are upheld in every interaction. You will lead, mentor, and schedule our dedicated team of Child & Youth Workers, manage administrative compliance with provincial regulations, and act as the primary liaison between our home, educational teams, and community partners. You will champion our small, intimate care model, ensuring the home remains a warm and family-centred environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Hire, train, schedule, and supervise residential staff. Provide regular feedback, performance evaluations, and clinical support to prevent burnout and foster a positive workplace culture.

  • Operational Oversight: Manage the household budget, oversee grocery shopping and meal planning, and ensure the physical environment of the home remains safe, well-maintained, and welcoming.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure total compliance with the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA) and Ministry guidelines. Oversee the filing of all necessary documentation, including Serious Occurrence Reports (SORs) and daily logs.

  • Individualized Care Planning: Collaborate with staff, social workers, and families to develop, implement, and review individualized Plans of Care (POC) and safety plans for each youth.

  • Educational & Community Liaison: Advocate for youth by coordinating with schools, attending educational meetings, and building relationships with community recreation and mental health resources.

  • On-Call Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide emergency guidance and support to frontline staff outside of regular business hours.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of direct experience in residential care, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

  • Knowledge: Expert-level knowledge of the CYFSA, Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) licensing requirements, and trauma-informed care models.

  • Certifications: Current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C, and current crisis intervention certification.

  • Clearances: Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and a clean Driver's Abstract.

  • Skills: Strong administrative and organizational skills, budget management experience, exceptional leadership capabilities, and the ability to handle high-stress situations with calm and clarity.
